The film Aata is a struggle story of a married couple (Bhaira & Phoolan). They are in love with each other but phoolan is from upper caste and the dauther of village-chief other side Bhaira belongs to lower caste and a poor sheep herder guy. Phoolan s father fixed her married to Rana,who was an upper caste man but Phoolan knew that rana was a bad and mean person. On the day of her marriage Phoolan eloped with bhaira and marries him in temple. but they are caught by rana and cheif and punished by the society due to inter-caste marriage that no one will give them jobs and food from the village. And both of them are thrown out of that village. After that they build a hut on the hill outside the village,have a baby girl and Bhaira starts doing some odd jobs with the contractors outside the village to earn their living but after some time the evil eye of the contractor falls on phoolan and he asks Bhaira to send Phoolan to him for one night and when Bhaira refuses,he fires Bhaira.
