To save her grandfather's mansion, Rama agrees to marry their moneylender Madanlal, a much older man, who decides to sell some artifacts to prospective wealthy buyers, including Mr. and Mrs. Rai. But owing to heavy rain, the sale doesn’t happen as expected, and the storm shows no signs of abating. Finally, Madan forces Rama into letting Mr. and Mrs. Rai stay the night and have dinner with them. Amidst all this, another unexpected guest arrives, a handsome artist and a fearsome dacoit along with his gang. Rama looks familiar to the bandit Baldeva’s late wife and he goes on to tell them the story of his life.
