Indira (Suraiya), an orphan, is brought up by a jealous, uptight woman Rani (Veena). Indira grows up to become a sensible beauty and is sought by three suitors Raj (Raj Kapoor), Kundan (Al Nasir), and Ramesh (Suresh). Rani does not want Indira to marry into her own family. Since Raj and Kundan are her brothers, she arranges Indira's marriage with Ramesh without considering her choice. Indira does not appreciate this and refuses to marry, inviting Rani's fury. Who does Indira love and who will she end up with?
