Bihari's (Om Shivpuri) father loses his ancestral estate to Virendra Singh's (Ranjeet) family, who now live on the land in a palatial house. Singh has a son named Kishan (Rajesh Khanna). Bihari feels that they do not deserve the riches and sets out to swap his own infant son with Kishan. An attempt to stop him is made by Virendra, who gets killed. Bihari's wife tries to stop her husband but is unable to do so. Bihari thus manages to hide the truth from everyone. He hands over Kishan to his brother in Mumbai and introduces him to the life of crime, then watches as his own son grows up surrounded by riches. Will they ever find the truth about their lineage?
