The story starts with young Munmun (Rekha) who finds out that she is adopted and that her real mother is, in fact, a woman named Kunti (Nutan) who had Munmun as a result of a fling with a poet. Kunti later abandoned Munmun as a result of a marriage proposal from a wealthy barrister. Flabbergasted by the way she was treated as an infant, Munmun reaches out to Kunti's husband and reveals the truth to him. How will the man, kept in darkness until then, react to this news?
